Privacy Policy
Last updated: 30 July 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Nail Salon Direct ("we", "us", "our") collects, uses, and protects information when you use our website at nailsalondirect.com ("the Site"). We are committed to protecting your privacy in accordance with UK GDPR and the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR).
1. Who we are (data controller)
Nail Salon Direct is an independent UK nail salon directory. The Site is operated by GETGROWTH LTD, a private company limited by shares registered in England & Wales under company number 17275463, with a registered office at 71-75 Shelton Street, Covent Garden, London, WC2H 9JQ, United Kingdom. GETGROWTH LTD is the data controller responsible for personal data processed through the Site.
We are registered with the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) as a data controller, registration number ZC200549 (see our entry on the ICO register ↗).
You can contact us via our contact form.
2. What data we collect
2a. Data you give us
If you use our contact form or claim a listing, we collect:
- Your name
- Your email address
- Any information you include in your message
This data is stored securely via Netlify Forms and is only used to respond to your enquiry.
2b. Analytics data (if you consent)
If you accept analytics cookies, we use Google Analytics 4 (GA4) to collect anonymised information about how visitors use the Site. This includes:
- Pages visited and time on page
- Device type and browser
- General geographic region (not precise location)
- How you arrived at the Site (search engine, direct link, etc.)
We do not collect this data unless you explicitly accept analytics cookies via our cookie banner. GA4 is configured with IP anonymisation enabled.
2c. Advertising data (if you consent)
We fund this site partly through display advertising. Our advertising partner, Mediavine, and the advertising companies it works with may set cookies or similar identifiers to serve and measure ads. Where you consent, this can include:
- An advertising identifier and approximate location (country/region level)
- Device, browser and general technical information
- Pages viewed on this Site and interactions with ads
- Information used to limit how often you see the same ad and to measure ad performance
In the UK and EU, personalised advertising is only used if you consent via our consent banner, and you can change or withdraw that choice at any time. If you decline, you may still see ads, but they will not be personalised. A current list of our advertising partners and their purposes is available in the consent banner itself.
See Mediavine's Privacy Policy ↗ and our Commercial Disclosure for how advertising affects this site.
2d. Data we do not collect
- We do not require you to create an account
- We do not collect payment information
- We do not collect your precise location (geolocation features are opt-in, browser-side, and not transmitted to us)
3. Cookies
We use cookies as described in our Cookie Policy. In summary:
- Strictly necessary cookies: Used for the cookie consent banner itself. No consent required.
- Analytics cookies (Google Analytics 4): Only set if you accept analytics cookies.
- Advertising cookies (Mediavine and its partners): Only set if you accept advertising cookies. Used to serve, cap and measure ads.
You can change your cookie preferences at any time using the Cookie settings control on our Cookie Policy page.
4. Legal basis for processing
- Contact form / correction requests: Legitimate interests (responding to your direct enquiry).
- Analytics cookies: Consent — we only activate GA4 after you have accepted analytics cookies.
- Advertising cookies: Consent — personalised advertising is only enabled after you have accepted advertising cookies.
- Business listing information: Legitimate interests (operating a public business directory). See section 8.
5. How long we keep your data
- Contact/claim form submissions are kept for up to 12 months, then deleted.
- GA4 data retention is set to 14 months.
6. Third parties
We share data with:
- Netlify — hosting and form submissions. Netlify Privacy Policy ↗
- Google Analytics — analytics (only with consent). Google Privacy Policy ↗
- Mediavine — advertising management, and the advertising partners it works with (only with consent). Mediavine Privacy Policy ↗
We do not sell your personal data for money. Please note that under some laws — particularly certain US state privacy laws — sharing data with advertising partners for personalised advertising can be treated as a "sale" or "sharing" of personal information. You can opt out at any time through our consent controls, and we honour recognised opt-out signals where required.
7. Your rights (UK GDPR)
You have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you
- Request correction of inaccurate data
- Request deletion of your data
- Withdraw consent for analytics at any time (via cookie settings)
- Lodge a complaint with the ICO at ico.org.uk ↗
To exercise any of these rights, please use our contact form.
8. Business listing data
Salon information (names, addresses, contact details, etc.) displayed on the Site is compiled from publicly available business information and maintained through ongoing checks and business-owner updates.
Where a business is a sole trader, some of this information may also be personal data. We process it on the basis of legitimate interests — operating a public directory that helps people find local services — balanced against the privacy of the individuals concerned. In line with that balance, we suppress personal mobile numbers where we can identify them.
If you are a business owner you can ask us to correct or remove your listing at any time, free of charge, and you have the right to object to our processing. Please use our contact form. We action genuine correction and removal requests at no cost.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page will reflect any changes. Continued use of the Site after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
